A slower way down the river

Dahabiya sailing boats

A dahabiya is a sailing boat, not a cruise ship. Twenty guests at most, often fewer, moving with the wind and mooring at islands and villages the large ships pass by. Same temples, same stretch of river, at a slower pace.

How booking works

1

Tell us your dates

Send your travel dates, how many of you there are and what matters most to you. WhatsApp or the contact form, whichever you prefer.

2

We shortlist the ships

We come back with two or three ships that have space on those dates, with the price per person and what is included.

3

25% confirms your cabin

A quarter of the total holds the cabin in your name. Bank transfer or card.

4

The rest on arrival

You settle the balance on your first day in Egypt, in cash or by card. Card payments carry a 3% surcharge.

Nothing to pay to ask. We only take a deposit once you have chosen a ship and the dates are confirmed.

NOT SURE WHICH SHIP

Tell us your dates and we'll do the rest

Send us when you want to travel and what matters to you, and we’ll come back with two or three ships that fit, with prices.

Good to know

Common questions

How many nights is a Nile cruise?

Three nights from Aswan to Luxor, four nights from Luxor to Aswan, or seven nights for the full round trip on the same ship.

Which day does the ship leave?

Most ships leave Luxor on Monday and Aswan on Friday. Others run Thursday and Monday, or Saturday and Wednesday, so we confirm the day for the ship and the dates you want.

Is the price per person or per cabin?

Per person, based on two people sharing a cabin. Children from 6 to 11 pay half the adult rate, and children under 6 travel free.

How do I pay, and when?

A 25 percent deposit confirms your booking. The balance is paid on arrival, by bank transfer or in cash. Cards are accepted, with a 3 percent surcharge.

What is your cancellation policy?

From 120 to 61 days before embarkation, 25 percent of the total. From 60 to 30 days, 75 percent. Under 30 days or no show, 100 percent. Peak dates can differ, and your booking confirmation states which applies.

Do we have a guide with us?

Yes. Every temple visit is with a licensed Egyptologist guide, not a recording or a coach escort.
